Ooops… More Ontario “Green Jobs” lost – PowerBlades closes, 136 jobs lost

On Monday, the wind turbine blade manufacturing plant announced it will be closing its Rusholme Road plant’s doors.

The news was broken to PowerBlades’ 136 employees Monday morning that aside from a small amount of clean-up work, the plant would be closing effective immediately, said Helmut Herold, managing director North America of Senvion, PowerBlades’ parent company.

“Unfortunately, because of a lack of future projects we cannot continue,” he said.

It doesn’t make much sense because they are in the process of building huge wind farms in Niagara and surrounding areas.

And once they are done they won’t be building any more.

Took a drive to Sarnia a couple of months back. What a disgusting sight along the way. Notice that most of the windmills are in ridings that voted Conservative. Wouldn’t want to be destroying those Liberal land values.

They are in a Conservative riding here as well.

I believe that Powerblades had a 4.2 loan of some sort (operating loan maybe) from the prov government. Anyone know the status of this loan, or if it was repaid? Or is this another Wynne win?

Enbridge is cutting hundreds/thousands of jobs now too. Don’t worry about the liberal elites though, they are safe in their ivory towers.

The Portuguese “Ria Blades” is the real cause of that decision.
We make a 45 meter blade in less than 24 hours.
Senvion are moving the blade production to the huge power plant in Portugal.
Is cheaper and faster… to deliver.
