Because It’s 2015

On Wednesday in Ottawa, Justin Trudeau was sworn in as Canadian prime minister. He wasted no time in announcing his newly chosen cabinet of exactly 15 men and 15 women, which fulfilled a campaign pledge he’d made about gender equality. One reporter asked Trudeau why the perfect male-female split was so important to him. The prime minster’s response: “Because it’s 2015.”

It sure is. Back in the pre-identity Dark Ages, leaders of representative democracies felt obliged to cite principles or aims in explaining policy to citizens.

Today they cite trends.

  • Gaylord Ponce

I can’t find Prime minister Gerald Butts in the picture. Perhaps he’s dressed in drag.

    • Clink9

      Because it’s 2015.

      • andycanuck

And Wynne’s all ready to pay for it! Can’t have waiting lists for dickectomies, after all.

  • Xavier

The tyranny of the lowest common denominator.

  • Ron MacDonald

What’s the big deal, he has 3 more women in his cabinet than Harper had in his frist cabinet.

    • Correction: junior ministers.

Those broads can’t even get a full position.

  • How is the “balance” between liberals and conservatives?

  • tom_billesley

For balanced diversity he needs 15 f2m and 15 m2f transgenders. Cisgender privilege must be expunged.

  • Edubeat

I’m surprised the Rt. Hon. Ben Levin wasn’t given a cabinet post.

  • andycanuck

    It’s the Hair Apparent.

  • Okay- in 2015, is it “disgusting” to save Christians who are being persecuted in what was once their homes?

    • Will Quest

Trudeau’s gender parity liberal caucus resonates
rather hollow considering that at the 2013 reviving
the Islamic conference , Justin giving the keynote address conveniently ignored the blatant gender segregation in the audience . It seems for so-called ‘progressives’ & post-modern-feminism , women in certain ‘diversified’ venues
can be treated as second & third class citizens …. it’s all good cause it was 2013 !

      • Everything about the Liberals is hollow, shallow yet pernicious.

Justin Trudeau openly admires China that kills its female infants and allows the sexual slavery of North Korean women.
