Halloween Tales of The Macabre From The Scariest Place on Earth!

Driver_landed_on_sign[1]The scariest place on Earth that I know of is the I-5 Freeway in Los Angeles.

Burbank man, 20, ejected from car lands on 5 Freeway sign in Glendale

Authorities removed the body of a 20-year-old Burbank man from a 5 Freeway sign Friday morning in Glendale after the driver lost control of his car and was ejected.

California Highway Patrol received a call at 7 a.m. about the driver of a Ford Fiesta traveling recklessly down the southbound 5 Freeway just north of California 134. Shortly after, the car collided with another car, overturned and the driver was ejected, landing on the Colorado Street freeway sign, said Edgar Figueroa, a CHP public information officer.

The driver, Richard Pananian, was not wearing a seatbelt and died, Figueroa said. The Los Angeles Fire Department assisted in removing the body from the sign.

“I’ve never seen anything like this or heard anything like this,” Figueroa said. “It’s the first time.”

Officials had closed both northbound and southbound lanes on the 5, but most have since reopened. The three and four lanes on the southbound side remain closed for the investigation.

I will have to say that this is still not the worst I have seen on L.A.’s freeways. but it’s up there! It’s hard to beat an almost perfectly placed and intact human brain (with what was left of its owner under a yellow sheet) in the middle of the number-three-lane on your way home from work.

      Statistics too.

The 405 Freeway in L.A. is pretty good too.
Normally it’s a fine freeway (well up until 20-years ago it was a good and fast freeway) but that one used to have some really bad fatalities too.

I dressed up as Premier Wynne last year, but the police arrived and told me I was scaring the kids too much. Plus I had two ugly women try to rape me.

I doubt it is the highway but the idiots that drive it. I drive highway 99 north all the time for over 30 years . it is a beautiful highway .
I have seen some terrible crashes, very few are due to mechanical failure . most are suicidal jerks on motorbikes or the urban driver nodding after an after ski burger and a joint in the suv back to Vancouver. these clowns have created an accident blackspot near my village that all the cops refer to as the burger and beer line,a perfect storm of blood sugar, speed and stupidity. it is about 35 minutes from downtown and is a well engineered unremarkable stretch of road. It is the drivers.

My next door neighbor – who just came over to show us her lovely children’s Halloween costumes – was passed at high speed by a motorcycle not too long ago. A woman was driving and a man was on the back. A couple minutes later she came upon them where they had crashed into a street sign – not anything as massive as the one in the picture above, just an ordinary metal sign and post. The man was dead and the woman was scalped. My neighbor, a nurse, gave her first aid until the ambulance arrived and the entire time she thought it was the man, because there was no hair at all. One of the ambulance attendants found her hair and attached skin. She died later from brain trauma.

I’m over run with tricker treaters this year. So far i’ve had twice as many as allnof last year.

    • Xavier

We had one, dressed as a military officer. Everyone around here goes to the city or to church parties where it’s safe.

      • Exile1981

Normally that is what happens here. This year everyone is staying close to home and the local reserve bused kids to our tiny town rather than to calgary to save money.

Funny thing, we had three small trick or treaters this today (Sunday Nov 1st) around noon. Two spider mans and a Luigi; I asked one why they were out again today and he told me mom and dad were too drunk to drive them to town yesterday.

Not sure if it was true or not but I gave them candy anyways.
