Goodbye Middle Class: 51% Of All American Workers Make Less Than $30,000 A Year

We just got more evidence that the middle class in America is dying. According to brand new numbers that were just released by the Social Security Administration, 51 percent of all workers in the United States make less than $30,000 a year. Let that number sink in for a moment. You can’t support a middle class family in America today on just $2,500 a month – especially after taxes are taken out. And yet more than half of all workers in this country make less than that each month. In order to have a thriving middle class, you have got to have an economy that produces lots of middle class jobs, and that simply is not happening in America today.

Apart from other various reasons (e.g. corporate greed, political & economic policies, increasing dependency on welfare, etc.) another big reason for shrinking middle class is changing demographics.

It also has to do with since the time the picture heading this article was taken the Labour force was doubled. So in theory to evaluate middle class should be based on two incomes… Which ur demographic comment addresses.

They other problem being paying people to stay poor. Want to change this reduce welfare and change the laws regarding who gets to vote

The single number one thing causing this is massive legal and illegal immigration, which increases the supply of labour, driving down wages for everybody.

Women started working outside the home after their husbands’ income fell behind the rise in the cost of living

Going to need a source for that claim

The post WW2 period was a historical anomaly. Labour is a commodity, when there is high demand, low supply, it;s worth a lot. When there is low demand, high supply it is worth little. There was a similar period after the plagues in Europe in the 1300’s. Everyone died, labour became valuable and the feudal system died off because peasants had choices because labour was so in demand. Sometimes it’s hard to see the big picture when you are living in the middle of it, but the post WW2 perfect storm of lots af dead people, a whole world that needs to be rebuilt and only North America with any industrial capacity is not likely to be repeated.

Obamanomics is designed to do one thing. Put half the population on the dole and the other half working do nothing jobs in the government.

    Ontario’s average wage…1 civil servant making 100 grand a year and 5 serfs making 20 grand a year makes a salary average of 36 grand….sounds nice, but it’s a two-tier economy.

It has taken decades for elites to accomplish their goal of disempowering the influential, independent middle class — by shipping entire industries overseas via outsourcing and importing cheap foreign workers for jobs that couldn’t be removed. Now automation is coming on strong to replace human workers and the big political brains are snoozing.
