Christianity under global threat due to persecution, says report

Christianity is in danger of ceasing to be a truly global faith as increasing numbers of its followers flee violence and persecution across swaths of the Middle East and Africa, according to a new report.

“Christians are fast disappearing from entire regions – most notably a huge chunk of the Middle East but also whole dioceses in Africa. In large part, this migration is the product of an ethnic cleansing motivated by religious hatred,” says Persecuted and Forgotten?, published on Tuesday by the Catholic campaign group, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN).

Christianity was “changing from being a global faith to a regional one, with the faithful increasingly absent from ever-widening areas”.

I remember 20 years ago my folks’ minister saying Christians were being persecuted. Now 20 years later the Guardian finally reports on it …very late.

Christians everywhere should stop whining and complaining, become courageous, unite under the banner of the Cross, go on the offensive and KILL their enemies! That is the Truest form of evangelism and that is how Christians will gain respect and power all around the globe. If we Jesus died for us sinners why are we not willing to die for Him in defending His honor and His name?

Those were called Crusades and they tarnished Christendom at least as much as the Roman church has. Jesus never called on his followers to go on offense. “Vengeance is mine.”

Are u saying that Christians should be murdered left and right and they don’t deserve to fight back? Give me a break!

Not real clear on the whole Christianity thing, are you?

You said “go on the offensive”. It’s patently against everything Christ taught. Self defense, fine. That’s a moral right for all. Christ never said for his followers to go on the offensive for anything other than the Great Commission. Peter sliced off an ear in John 18:10 and Christ not only rebuked him for it but also made the ear whole again.

The truest form of evangelism is spread by not only the word but also the Word. Christianity has never, and will never, be spread by the sword. The inbred Arabs do that with Islam. Again, you perhaps need to do a bit of reading.

Well, now that is looks like Trudeau is our next PM, Christians can forget about any help from Canada.

50 years ago we would have been airlifting these people to safety and welcoming them to the US as new citizens. Now we just watch them die.

This column has to be written by a non-Believer.

Christianity is strengthened by persecution. Always has been, always will be. It will also always be global because His sheep are everywhere and hear His voice. Just because areaa have been cleansed of visible Christians means nothing.
