Class War Ripper Museum protest ‘cancelled’ as organisers fear ‘large-scale arrests’

This afternoon’s planned protest against east London’s controversial Jack the Ripper Museum has been cancelled, its organisers have announced.

A statement on the Class War Official Facebook page posted last night reads: “We believe the police are intending to make large scale arrests tomorrow – egged on by a press campaign and the mass presence of journalists from round the world.

  • The problem with Britain is that nobody’s allowed to arm himself. Life is so much more civilized when people are slightly afraid of each other.

Nowadays they’re frightened of being thought to have given offence, or many are.

You’ll remember Dr Lisa McKenzie of LSE and Class War Women’s Death Brigade
The first wave of gentrification in the East End of London is objecting to being priced out by the second wave of gentrification. It’s nothing to do with the original inhabitants – a succession of immigrant Huguenots, Ashkenazi Jews, and Bengalis.

    • That particular area of the East End has been an immigration hub from then ’till now. Only then it was Ashkenazi Jews and now it’s Bangladeshis. (Which would you prefer?)

BTW I don’t believe for one minute that Kosminski was the ripper. I posted this in the Before Time (before all the comments vanished):

I’m a very minor Ripper buff. I haven’t the obsessive temperament that enables serious buffdom.

  • Here’s the Jack The Ripper Museum:

I haven’t investigated it at all, but if it’s good it’s a good idea. In a practical way London needs tourism.

I can’t take these people seriously. The fact that the ripper preyed on down-and-out women somehow proves that looking at the ripper murders is exploitative? Who was he supposed to rip, the Queen?

Who are these fools? I have a sense of who, say, the central victim, Catherine Eddowes was.

I have no sense of who these fat lunatics are. They are worthless, and very creepy. They would have less to say to Eddowes than I would.

Why is it that if you’re opposed to low rental housing in your suburban neighborhood, you’re a judgmental bigot but if you’re opposed to somebody opening a decent restaurant in a slum area, you’re a class warrior?

Has anyone else noticed Brits are really weird?

Yes, because my family came from there.
