Richard Dawkins questions Ahmed Mohamed’s ‘motives’ and sparks backlash

The evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins found himself at the centre of controversy on Sunday when he questioned the motives of Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old boy who was arrested and detained in Texas when a teacher thought a clock he had made was a bomb.

The Kid is a liar. No controversy there.

  • If this punk was white bread, there would be no end of people willing to kick him in the pants.

It smelt like a press stunt from the start…

      Or a dry run.
      Or both.

yep a propaganda dry run, now they know they can game the press.

Yeah. They’re going to be making too much money off of this to go jihadi on us.

Wonder how much easier it is to get clocks through the mail now. Especially those that have had their designs enhanced?

Sometimes I read something and have to reread it to make sure I actually read what I just read. Like this – “In an answer to a Twitter user who wrote: “I think you too frequently confuse ‘truth’ with ‘obsessive and unnecessary dedication to accuracy’”, Dawkins wrote: “That could well be true, in which case I apologise”

WTF? Dedication to accuracy is unnecessary? And something to be apologized for? What the hell kind of world are we living in?

    • Dawkins backed off with his tail between his legs – that’s the long and the short of it.

      • David Murrell

If Dawkins didn’t back off, he would be disinvited from those lucrative media-talk shows.

  • Ho Hum

The only thing that I disagree with Dawkins about is he says the boy should not have been arrested. The police did the right thing arresting the boy after he refused to cooperate with them. According to police he acted passive / aggressive and would not explain the purpose of the timing device.

    • DVult

They should have waterboarded the little punk and his father.

    • andycanuck

The MSM is also giving the false impression the arrest was for making a (real) bomb when Texas has a statute against making phoney bombs even if they aren’t used directly in a bomb hoax.

  • Micky C.

Dawkins said that, huh? Just goes to show you even a broken clock is right twice a day.

    • andycanuck

Although you have to plug it in for it to work especially in English class.

  • Who cares about a minor Muslim bomb-making trainee when there is a Muslim in the WH who is currently bombing the whole Western world out of existence?

  • Anon E. Mouse

The kid didn’t build this clock.

This is a mid-1980’s Radio Shack alarm clock, that he took out of its original case and put into his new box to look like a bomb and then showed in class after class as his first several teachers ignored it.

It took all day until he found a teacher who reacted as he wanted.

for preventing the establishment of a Sharia court in his city.

This was a setup from get go.
