Queen Elizabeth II becomes longest-reigning UK monarch

Queen Elizabeth II becomes Britain’s longest-reigning monarch later when she passes the record set by her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria.

The Queen will have reigned for 63 years and seven months – calculated at 23,226 days, 16 hours and approximately 30 minutes at about 17:30 BST.

Prime Minister David Cameron will lead tributes in the House of Commons and there will be a River Thames salute.

The Queen, who is 89, will spend the day on official duties in Scotland.

The exact moment the Queen reaches the milestone is not known because her father, George VI, passed away in the early hours of 6 February 1952.

Long Live Our Gracious Queen. I had it in my mind to turn our mud room into our Cloak Room, remember that? When I was a child in Quebec Canada, we had cloak rooms, boys to the left, girls to the right. Slowly our mud room is turning pretty but I have a portrait of Queen Elizabeth and one of Queen Victoria in such a gilded frame. For all the Canadians, and others around the Globe, I think it should now be called the Queen’s Cloakroom. Long Live Our Gracious Queen. For all those who hate the idea, imagine I am telling you that as a friend. If you want to hate me so be it it, I will continue in my thinking that Queen Victoria led to Queen Elizabeth who has not put one foot wrong in 63 years and tomorrow I shall hang both their portraits in my former mud room. I share this with people who care that we have had a wonderful and loving queen, In Elizabeth 2. I also know this might bring a deluge of hatred! Alas, so be it. Those who do not know that Canada is so calm because of our heritage are to be pitied. I just thought for those who would like to share a happy moment, I should not be afraid to. Happiness is not to be found easily these days. Tomorrow I shall find a small moment of happiness by hanging these pictures. I I’ll think how lucky I am to be the inheritor of them and of Freedom
yes I will be blessing Magna Carta, which is how we know who we are and why we know why millions and tens of millions want it. I will not forget my heritage. God Save Queen Elizabeth and thank her for fulfilling her duty for 63 years….perfectly.

I used to think that Queen Elizabeth had been a good queen, But in the future the “Elizabethan age” seen as the period where Britain died as a country. I know that she doesn’t have the power of an absolute monarch but she does have the power to question her ministers motives and actions and give them a good slap when they are being suicidally destructive, and she chose not to to stay above politics. A good monarch would have got involved in politics if the future survival of her people was in question. Those politics will ensure that she will likely be one of the last few monarchs. I suspect that Charles will likely be the last. In being a good monarch who was above politics, she has ensured that her people and institutions will die out.

May she live to 120 (anything to keep Camilla’s tampon wannabe off the throne)

I was pretty sure someone would say it for me.
