    After a hundred years one would think the Olympics would have determined the limits of human abilities.
    If they had been conceived of as an experiment or a study to find how fast a man can run or jump then they wouldn’t have been so wasteful.
    Instead we get people with admirable qualities like perseverance and grit spending their best years training for competitions that leave them with no real skills for the real world.
    The best of them end up on Wheaties boxes for a little while and then flounder for years before getting sex changes and reality TV shows.
    How could that life have been better spent?
