Ashley Madison class-action lawsuit in the works in Canada

As fallout grows from a hack attack against infidelity website Ashley Madison, Missouri lawyers have filed a class-action lawsuit in United States district court seeking more than $5 million in damages.

And a prominent Toronto law firm is looking for potential plaintiffs to start a class-action suit for Canadian victims.

Here’s why…

You won’t believe this, but Michael Coren is now justifying adultery:

    • Behind a paywall, can’t read it.

      • BillyHW

? I can read it just fine and I didn’t pay or sign up or anything.

        • I can read it too and a definitely haven’t given the WFP any money.

Eh, Coren. He’s being Mr. Pretty Non-Judgmental on in WFP and then smacking his self-righteous lips over the fact that this scandal-haunted Christian reality TV show guy has been outed as being amongst their clientele.

This is the only take on the man I’ve read which makes any sense:

          • Not clever enough;)

          • Alex

Maybe he’s going through andropause. Poor guy – those hormones are probably going crazy on him (or, at least, something’s going crazy here!)

          • Tom Forsythe

I don’t know anyone who defended Duggar, just a lot of people willing to forgive him. He won’t be so lucky, this time.

          • El Martyachi

The statement from whoever did the deed seems pretty cliched libleft-feministy, with peevishness at bad men cheating being the grievance and # of fake profiles getting honorable mention. So hey, who’s gonna hack fetlife and doxx their members? Is that gonna get the same treatment from journos?

      • BillyHW

Here, try clicking from his facebook link to the article.

      • Clink9

I could read it without pay but wish I didn’t.

      • El Martyachi

I guess we REALLY hate Toronto here. Or.. try clearing your cookies if you haven’t already..

      • Bataviawillem

Try shift, control, N and try to open in incognito window.

    • El Martyachi

      while dumb; do
      b = coren_bank_account
      n = something_contentious
      print “Michael Coren is $n now.” && b++ && sleep 2weeks;

Seriously if he’s printing in the Free Press he’s hit bottom. People gotta eat. He’s got kids.. don’t be too hard on the guy.

    • Exile1981

Is that because he’s signed up at ashley?

    • Alain

I believe there is a word which escapes me for those who will do anything for money and fame.

    • DMB

Of course he is justifying adultery. He justifies Kathleen Wynne’s adulterous affair on her now ex husband with her lesbian lover through his endorsement of her sex ed curriculum as her way of combating “homophobia”.

  • Raymond Hietapakka

Heh…I would have thought more than 10% of the population had their brains between their hind legs…

  • Waffle

i knew I shoulda gone into law.

  • El Martyachi

It would be really great if this sets a precedent. It’s about as likely as a 2015 manned moon mission.

  • Linda1000

What I can’t figure out is if someone is going to “cheat” why not sign up on a dating site using a generic private email account like Hotmail or Yahoo mail with a fake name. Everyone knows or should realize their workplace email is not private, especially gov’t. ones?

    • barryjr

But the users didn’t think they would be so betrayed as to have their information hacked.

      • Linda1000

Yeah, it’s a problem for debit/credit cards now.

    • mauser 98

guvmint types screw us no matter what time of day

  • Tom Forsythe

My understanding is that there are different levels of site membership, and the lowest level doesn’t require that the email address be verifiable. So, it is likely that a lot of these emails are not the actual users.

    • You seem awfully well-informed…. 🙂 (I keeeed.)

      • Tom Forsythe

I knew that was coming. 🙂

        • Sometimes these things can’t be left hanging.

          • andycanuck

            That’s what she said! Again.

        • andycanuck

          That’s what she said!

    • andycanuck

Or the same person has multiple accounts. Or, you know, so I’ve heard.

    • Cat-astrophe

      Sounds like wishful thinking, LOL.

  • Tom Forsythe

I am shocked that Vancouver is so low.

    • truthdareisay

probably because they have “open marriages” anyways.. 🙂

    • Linda1000

Same for Montreal? AB seems to be a real hotbed of activity but that’s because of all the money people “had” to throw around from the oilsands jobs and transient workers. The NDP (no dilly-dally party) is working on cleaning it all up tho. /sarc

  • Edubeat

Office de la langue francaise doesn’t recognize the Ashley Madison site as legit. There is no indication the site will put french in a larger type face. than english.

  • Norman_In_New_York

Don’t these people get it that next to nothing on the internet is hacker-proof? If hackers can break into “secure” government websites, why not Ashley Madison? Let the buyer beware.

  • eMan14

    I guess they are screwed.
