A lottery winner in America is reported to have spent $9m bailing out her fiancee out of jail-twice.

This is stupid on so many levels.

You could give them all the money in the world, and poor people would still be poor.

Many people once classified as “poor” have won lotteries in North America and have done pretty good for themselves. You read about how they first hire a financial advisor etc. Not all poor people are morons. Hey I even know some rich people who are morons!

Did you take a wrong turn on the internet somewhere?

          • truthdareisay

Why because I stated not all poor people are morons? You find that ridiculous? I guess you think everyone has to agree with whatever people comment on here or else! 🙂

You’re generalising in favour of the 2% by denigrating the 98%.

I am very familiar with what you just wrote… It’s been regurgitated thousands of times but it truly does not make it correct at all.

The sad part of this is that her boyfriend or her “friends” are going to kill her for even a taste of that money.
I’ll be surprised if she is still alive in two years.

So the government won 100 million dollars in the lottery.

      I noticed that too.

That is how it works in the good ol’ USofA. But, not in Canada – however they will nail you to the wall on anything you make on it (investments, etc).

“Stories” in some newspapers need to be taken with a ton of salt. The idea that bail bondsmen would let this lady go the all cash bail route without giving them a chance to “participate” seems very remote. The idea that the loving couple would be unfamiliar with such helpful services even more so.

  • Hard Little Machine

In NC Bail Bondsmen are allowed to charge up to 19.5% interest. So if you actually have the cash and it’s huge bond, which you do get back, that’s what you should do. She saves 1.755 million dollars.

And I get upset when my 6/49 ticket either gives birth to a twoonie or another free ticket. Just ain’t no justice.
