Jewish, Muslim and LGBT communities oppose hate-crime hotline plans

London’s Jewish, Muslim and LGBT communities have joined forces to oppose plans by Boris Johnston for a hate-crime hotline, claiming it would dissuade victims from reporting anti-Semitic, Islamophobic and homophobic attacks at a time of rising attacks.

Not yet officially announced, internal emails from the mayor’s office for policing and crime, seen by the Guardian, reveal that Johnson is intending to introduce a one-number hotline for reporting hate crime throughout the capital.

Hmmmm… We know Tell Mama’s history of inflated “Islamophobic hate crimes”, so I can’t take anything they say at face value.

  • Icebow

What is he like? I feel forced to reconsider his hero status.

  • Raymond Cameron

Is he trying to quit smoking? Nice vape girls.

  • Dana Garcia

So is that lion fur those girls are wearing?

  • “Fiyaz Mughal, who founded interfaith group Faith Matters, which runs Tell Mama, said: “There is a real problem with this, since singular reporting points do not work well and where implemented, anti-Muslim hate figures are extremely low.”

    And we couldn’t have that.
