Donald Trump tops CNN poll of 2016 Republicans

WASHINGTON – Real estate magnate Donald Trump moved to the top of the 2016 Republican presidential field in a CNN poll released on Sunday, edging rival Jeb Bush and gaining support from Republicans in the last month despite a series of controversial statements.

Trump was backed by 18% of Republicans in the CNN poll, which was conducted entirely after his July 18 criticism of Republican Sen. John McCain’s war record. His lead over Bush, a former Florida governor who was at 15%, was within the poll’s margin of error.

What the 2016 GOP field is saying about Donald Trump

Dismiss Trump if you wish but I am not sure why most of the Republican candidates choose to dismiss his message on immigration as if it were a “Bad Thing”.

  • Kathy Nelson

The Republicans will endorse Trump because he is the only one the people will vote for from the socially retarded Republican party.

    • Heh;)

      • Ron MacDonald

After Bob Rae came Mike Harris, after David Miller came Rob Ford; if Trump does get the nomination I hope he doesn’t turn out like Ford and Harris.

        • I dunno I kinda miss Ford.

        • What do you find wrong with Harris? Did he do anything that what worse than Bob Rae or the McGuinty/Wynne fags?

          • Ron MacDonald

            He sold the 407.

  • The RNC needs to take a lesson from Trump.

A lot of people are fed up with the status quo – especially RINOs who continue playing softball with Obama.

And that includes these pansy republicans who refuse to deal with the reality of Islam.

i want an open government investigation into Islamic theology and why so many “converts” think it is their best interests to commit violence in the name of Islam.

The PC Gods will cringe. Too bad.

  • Maurixio Garcia Sanchez

They will endorse him for another chance for the Democrats to be in power.

  • Alain

Dismissing Mr. Trump as a candidate is one thing, but dismissing the elephant in the room, illegal and even what legal immigration has become, is done at their own loss. They had better take heed that the people, the voters, are fed up with the refusal to deal with such a major issue.

I’d prefer Scarlett Johanssen over the Hairpiece anyday. At least she has a lot more to show

  • Ron MacDonald

The following should have the Democrats concerned.

What difference, at this point, does it make?
We’re in the swirl before the gurgle.

  • Norman_In_New_York

Trump may be an unstable screwball, but if Republicans don’t take his message to heart, they are doomed to repeat the futility of previous elections and demonstrate Einstein’s definition of insanity.

  • Brett_McS

The only one playing it smart vis a vis Trump is Ted Cruz.

“They’ve been really nice over the last few days…”

They just want to get close enough to knife him.
