Al-Qaeda ‘suicide bombing chief’ killed in US airstrike in Afghanistan

Al-Qaeda’s head of suicide bombing operations has been killed in a US airstrike in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said on Friday.

The US said Abu Khalil al-Sudani was a senior leader in the terror group and a confidante of Ayman Al-Zawahiri, the Egyptian jihadist who succeeded Osama bin Laden as al-Qaeda’s chief.

Al-Sudani was involved in plots against the United States as well as operations against Nato troops, Afghan forces and the Pakistani military, the US said.
