No — It’s Ka-Ka West TRYING to sing Bohemian Rhapsody. He saw “Rhap” and thought he could do it.

I was poking around in the old records last week looking for albums to shock /entertain my kids . I came across the brothers Johnson and a bunch of other funk/r&b what ever happened? how is this monotonous chanting of hatred ever consider a replacement for what was some of the most inventive music in history?

It was the campaign against disco. This latter involved getting all dressed up and dancing to the last ballroom dances devised in North America. The uppity blacks enjoying themselves and perhaps even finding romance in this manner had to be put in their place. And so came rap and hip hop, whose lyrics may be obscene, sexist and hateful, but which is “authentic” according to the recording industry moguls.

but it ruined people like kanye who could have had a degree of hood respectability stealing cars and mugging old ladies

      • It is one more destructive element in a sick culture.

I miss Parliament and Funkadelic. Hard to realise that and rap comes from the same people.

where are those people? rap and hip hop are just free often obscene verse laminated over a drum synthesizer and a stolen hook from earlier more enlightened days ,there must be some quality music still coming out.

I’m not fully against having bankruptcy protection/laws available, but even if currently flat broke, there needs to be some sort of regulation brought in that prevents it from being used by people that have made millions. So many actors, sports figures, and it seems an unusually high amount of black musicians, have made several million dollars and gone through it with bad business choices, extravagant lifestyles, and blown through it like it was Brewster’s Millions and end up walking away scott-free. I don’t think that is what the law was intended to be used for.
