Pan Am Games: Link to our website without permission and we’ll sue #ScrewOff #TO2015

The organisers of the Pan American Games in Toronto, which start this week, require that people seek formal permission to link to its website at

Under the website’s terms of use, amid piles of incomprehensible legalese seemingly designed to hide from the fact that social media exists, it is decreed that no one is allowed to use one of those hyperlink thingies to connect to the website unless they first get approval. It reads:

Links to this Site are not permitted except with the written consent of TO2015™. If you wish to link to the Site, you must submit a written request to TO2015™ to do so. Requests for written consent can be sent to TO2015™ reserves the right to withhold its consent to link, such right to be exercised in its sole and unfettered discretion.

  • Drunk_by_Noon

Yes, and anyone getting “Drunk by Noon” owes me a check!

Theses people really ARE completely stupid.

    • Just typical of thieves looting the public treasury.

      • BillyHW

They’re not intelligent enough to create wealth of their own, so they have to steal yours.

    • El Martyachi

We’re even stupider for letting things slide this far. And is that payable in US funds?

      • Drunk_by_Noon

Yeah, greenbacks or aged Kentucky bourbon.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

I can’t get drunk by noon.
      I’m on standby.

  • wallyj180

    This is kind of related.

I just flipped on the CBC for a few minutes. The fellow was talking about a ‘rugby 7’s’ game that Canada won.
In the background there was another match going on. The stands were close to empty, maybe 4 or 5 hundred tops.
Could the ticket sales be going even slower than many suspect?

    • Abysmally so I imagine.

    • David Murrell

I checked the TV channels today and there was no Pan Am games on whatsoever. All the Corrupt Brodcasting Corp had on was coverage of the Calgary Stampede. True, the Corrupt Corp indunates us with eye-glazing, repetitive ads for the Pan Ams, but little actual coverage. This, when few seem inerested in Wynne’s pork boondoggle in the first place. Amazing.

  • Alain

This is a pathetic attempt at intimidation and wouldn’t stand up in a true court of law. They are hoping to keep things hidden and only allow information they approve.

  • Raymond Cameron

Why would anyone wish to link to this scam?

  • DMB

They seem to deliberately want to the Pan Am games to be a money losing event.

    • Blacksmith

From what I hear they have already succeeded in that.

  • Blacksmith

I only have one question, does anybody care about the pan am games?

    • Canadian Born

      Question answered NO.

    • tom_billesley

I thought it had something to do with a defunct airline.

    • Everyone Else

awww … I always wanted to know who would win the 10 metre air pistol competition

  • El Martyachi

This is the sort of thing that the 4chan /b/ trollmasters could go to town with.

  • Frances

So no one links – so what? Not watching anyway. Have Tour de France, rodeo, chucks, and football on the go.

  • Tom Forsythe

What if they are using reverse psychology in an effort to get libertarians to promote their event?

  • Jaedo Drax

I looked at tickets for the one or 2 events I was interested in, and they are $50 a pop… and then I thought about what I could do with that $50 which would be more fun than driving to Cookstown
