Schools Implant IUDs in Girls as Young as 6th Grade Without Their Parents Knowing

Earlier this month, reported on a high school in Seattle, Washington that is now implanting intrauterine devices (IUD), as well as other forms of birth control and doing so without parental knowledge or permission.

The IUD is known as a long acting reversible contraception, and may even act as an abortifacient. So, a young teen in Seattle can’t get a coke at her high school, but she can have a device implanted into her uterus, which can unknowingly kill her unborn child immediately after conception. Or, if she uses another method, she can increase her chances of health risks for herself, especially if using a new method.

Many years ago my ex-wife could not get an IUD because it was considered TOO RISKY (by Kaiser Permanente) for women under age 26!
Yes, after removal it is reversible, assuming that the woman does not have complications from scarring and a host of other issues related to STDs (they are more serious) and typically they are not given to women who have not had at least one child already.
Wow, unless IUD technology has gotten drastically better over the last twenty years, this is insanely risky. More than a few of those girls are going to find out that they are sterile in about a decade.

    • It’s dreadful. Remember, it’s not just birth control but at least sometimes apparently an abortifacient.

Wouldn’t you know, that’s a very diverse student body for that school.

But if you bring a Tylenol, you’re suspended.

  • This is Seattle. (Toronto west.)

  • Seattle!

huh? How do you casually get an IUD at school? What do they shoot them in with an airhose?
