This Just In: America Still Racist

When I listen to the rhetoric of the American left, I wonder whether their counterparts in other countries are as adamant about blaming citizens for the sins of their forefathers.

Do Australians sit around navel-gazing because their country was settled by deported criminals? Does today’s generation of Germans wear hair shirts for the atrocities against humanity committed by their forefathers within my lifetime? Do young Turks engage in self-flagelation over the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians a hundred years ago? Do the Japanese constantly remind themselves that their country launched a sneak attack against America that killed thousands?

I think not.

You know, it was a funny thing. When I left Canada more than 20 years ago to live in Texas, I got a lot of raised eyebrows and people telling me sanctimoniously, “But they’re so racist down there!” I had spent almost 10 years going “down there” on ‘bidness’ and to tell you the truth, I didn’t see much racism. I saw a lot of diversity. As I settled into life as a Texan — going to rodeos, learning to line dance, wearing Western boots, drinking real iced tea — I was shocked to realize that the Toronto I had just left was far more racist. Texas seemed like a model for diversity and multi-culturalism, and it had always been so, I had friends of all colours and ethnicities, even a woman who had converted to Islam. She gave me a cookbook on Middle Eastern cooking which I still treasure.

I had similar experiences in Texas. Being from a large city in Virginia, with all the usual racial issues, I was shocked to be treated civilly by polite black strangers with a distinct Texan drawl instead of ghetto-speak. It reinforced something I had been told but didn’t completely understand until then:

In the south, people are judged as individuals.
In the north, people are judged as groups.

So much of this is leftist/media generated. I see that Americans have let out a loud “meh” about the Confederate Flag kerfuffle.

Who cares. There’s a hashtag made of sailors.

The constant bleating of racism, the struggle for ghey superiority, the support of Islam and creeping sharia, the use of every gun massacre as a wedge to divide society… are all tools the left uses to push their ‘fundamental transformation’ toward socialism.

      Nailed it.

And even among the ‘well-meaning’ socialists there’s a large constituency agitating for total chaos and anarchy, the destruction of all democratic institutions, customs and trappings of civilized society. Just as individuals can be self destructive, entire societies can be too. Socialism is how that self-destructive tendency manifests itself. It’s a collective mental illnesses.
