US national anthem censored on Iranian TV

Iran and the United States faced off on the volleyball courts over the weekend. The two countries’ teams played two games as part of the Volleyball World League tournaments in Tehran. Before the games kicked off, the countries’ national anthems were sung, as per tradition at international sports events. Volleyball is extremely popular in Iran, and the games were broadcast live on public television. However, viewers didn’t get to hear the US anthem – it was cut out.
