Prepare for Muslim extremism as we prepared for WW2 says former defence chief

Britain must stop “sleepwalking” and prepare to tackle Muslim extremism as seriously as it planned for the Second World War, a former head of the Armed Forces has warned.

Lord Richards of Herstmonceux said extremism poses a “real threat” to the world and condemned dithering politicians too reluctant to lead the way.

Warning that Islamic State militants would wreak a “hell of a lot of damage” in the coming years, he argued the Armed Forces risk being left “on the back foot” by leaders who fail to plan properly.

“I think the problem is that we have not seen that we need to approach this issue of Muslim extremism as we might approach World War Two back in the 30s,” the former Chief of the Defence Staff said.

“This is a real threat to us and we’re sleepwalking in the way we’re approaching it.”

One day we will have to confront Islam.  Likely sooner than later. Likely far more bloody than anything seen to date.

Oh my here we go again with the “Muslim extremism” rubbish. Can we not for once admit the truth and admit we are dealing with devout Muslims, and therefore the ideology of Islam.

    • We are dealing with Islam. I wish they would just say it for once.

They can’t. They can’t while they import ever-increasing numbers of Mohamedans, and their extended families, into free nations.

We really can’t expect them to diss the Muslims they’re handing the country over to … not while they’re busy dissing us.

Paging Mr. Enoch Powell, please pick up the courtesy phone.

At least he’s voicing an opinion that there is a problem. It’s not like he’s buried his head in the sand singing Kumbaya. I’ll take that over doing nothing.

These types never ever rock the boat until their retirement is secure.
      Strictly careerists and nothing more.

The real threat comes from the silent moderates and alleged Peaceful muslims that act like Closet islamists that support terrorism by-proxy by the overt lack of protests to denounce it .
The Kenya mall slaughter showed me that I couldn’t trust a muslim to save my life in a crisis where the killer was a fellow muslim that gave them the chance to go free and leave me behind to be killed.
I don’t care what the quran says , I go by the action,or inaction , of the 1.5 billion followers as a collective that need to either stop the terrorism them selves or purge the quran of the hate and violence.

I Britain prepares like they did for WW2…
Didn’t their best general (Monty) get his ass handed to him at Dunkirk.

        He was there wasn’t he?
My point being that they seemed to be unprepared for WW2 (Monty or not). Hence preparing for the current threat in the same fashion as the last major crisis would be inadequate.

The Brits made the error of putting the BEF under the ‘guidance’ of the French General Staff. And the FGS was bailiwick of Generals who had peaked when they were Captains during WW1. Much of the debacle blamed on the Brits resulted from the BEF’s inability to figure out what the French were trying to do.
You might find similar episodes by reading about Gen Marshall’s planning for Fall 1942.

Just did a quick review of Gen. Montgomery’s record.
Not the most imaginative general but not totally overrated either. Plenty of blame to go around for the fall of France.
Too bad the general in the article didn’t say something when he was in a position to do something about it.
What is it I hear? “See something Say something”

          • Minicapt

He probably did, but his civilian bosses and their attached snivel serpents have the final word, to which he was expected to accede.

          • pike bishop

No doubt but if that’s the case I will not laud his courage.

          • Minicapt

I’m sorry you missed my point.

          • pike bishop

            Me too.
I think your point was that he “said something” and was overruled.
If the threat is real I would hope a man of the caliber of general would see his duty to the nation as paramount.

  • Deport the ones you have already imported.

  • Islam is the Religion of Perpetual War. There is no doubt whatsoever that once the number of Muslims is sufficiently great, even if only a fraction of the total populations of their host countries, they will seek to take power by force, i.e. total civil war like in Syria and Iraq, etc. European cities will be destroyed by suicide bombers, by wanton executions, by rape, murder and mayhem, and even by dirty bombs and maybe even nuclear bombs. Anyone who is unaware of this or remotely doubts it is out of his mind. This is not something in far off tomorrow but very soon, within our lifetime in a few years , a decade or two. The war is already on – the enemy is stealthily invading and preparing the ground. They are biding their time, but they mean business and are drooling with the desire to get it going.

I agree with this grim scenario and have stated it on BCF a number of times before.

However, a question for you, Avi:

Which countries in Europe will first feel it as you describe above? I suspect the UK, Sweden, France, and Belgium are immediate candidates, but what about Italy, Spain, Holland, and even Greece (given its recent instability) and perhaps others? What is your prediction?

      • I agree with your predictions – probably in this order: Belgium, UK, France. The others will follow soon enough. Germany? Maybe they’d fight back before things got out of hand, I don’t know; or maybe because most its Muslims are Turks, Turkey would get involved.

“Islam is the Religion of Perpetual War”:

I’ve always had the strong suspicion that if Islam did indeed conquer the entire world (as is their stated goal) Islam would collapse. Rather like a parasite killing its host or perhaps a cancer finally destroying the body it is part of, killing itself in the process. If it has nothing to fight *against*, it would fight itself. Into extinction perhaps, but too late for the rest of us, unfortunately.

      • No even if it conquered the whole world, violence would continue, as History shows, because Islam is not monolithic, and there are always individuals who want the power at the top anyway.

What did we do in WW2? Oh yes. Intern all enemy aliens.
