Cardinal Veglio: European migration policy less “Christian”

(Vatican Radio) The President of the Pontifical Council for Migrants and Itinerant People has called European refugee policy “less human” and “less Christian”, adding that Europe has never had a proper immigration programme, but instead tries to “patch up” emergency situations.

Cardinal Antonio Maria Veglio was speaking about the EU’s reaction to the recent migration crisis, which he said ignores the root causes of migration.

“What is the cause of immigration and refugees? For immigration, poverty. For refugees, war,” he said. “Until there is an end to poverty and war, nothing will change.”

Cardinal Veglio said it is the Church’s mission help the “most poor, the most dispossessed, abandoned”, and said these are the migrants…

start packing them into the Vatican then, because the numbers of potential invaders is enough to swamp Europe just as the Vatican would be .it will just take a few months longer.

Europe “tries to “patch up” emergency situations,” because Europe never met a crisis it didn’t love to create, then fiddle with until it was worse.

“Until there is an end to poverty and war, nothing will change.” As to the war, talk to the muslimes. Until they stop inciting against non-muslimes, nothing will change. As to poverty, as long as the pope supports the “green” agenda, the church (that cardinal included) have no credibility.

..well.. they did give us this guy

“…what have Africans done to help themselves?”

Plenty. African leaders, most being as or more corrupt than their American counterparts, have “helped themselves” to all they can, which is why there’s nothing left for their people. 🙂

        OK …..you got me there.

I wasn’t commenting about the $$ amount (didn’t even occur to me), but was agreeing with you otherwise, in my own moderately aspie way.

Why don’t the professional catholics speak up for the Christians who are being genocided in Islam lands? The Vaticrats should be saving Christians, not the Muslims who are killing them.

Too sensible. It’ll never get out of committee.

Seriously, that’s yet another illustration that they have no clue what they are talking about, or doing.

Excuse me, but what ido you mean by “professional catholic”,? if you mean “catholic priests” then believe me some of them do. At least some of the eastern european priests do. But priests are like pastors or like rabbis and often how they view their duty depends on their background.
Like the present pope who is from (very pro-communist, pro-socialist, anti-capitalist) South America.

The best thing we can do is to help them to help themselves. Sending food, money, and other resources in the guise of welfare and feel good spending does not help fix the problem. It just allows us to pat ourselves on the back. The problem will not go away.

Since Europe has a death wish, isn’t there a way we can expedite it and put them out of their misery?

    • tom_billesley

Leave Obama unimpeached and elect Hillary, but that would also sink the US

  • DVult

And what is the cause of poverty and war? Hint if the refugees are puslums then the cause is pislam and they will bring pislam, poverty and war with them.

He’s upset about EU talk of destroying boats on the Barbary Coast. He thinks it’s against international law and an act of war.
He added: “Fight against the causes of migration. Try and make the countries from which they flee better.”

The way to do that is quarantine until the contagion has burnt itself out. Nobody is in the mood for the alternative, which is to intervene and impose a protectorate.
