Terror suspects to lose citizenship

Australia plans to pass a law within weeks to give the government the power to strip citizenship from dual nationals who are suspected terrorists even if they are not convicted of a crime, Prime Minister Tony Abbott said today.

More than 100 Australians are suspected to be fighting with the Islamic State movement and other terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq and up to 50% of those fighters are believed to be dual citizens.

    Spot On, mate!

One of the idiotic criticisms that the local ninnies make of Abbott is that ‘he doesn’t show leadership’ (as if Taffy Duck and Rudderless did). Well, it seems to me that other countries are taking note of what Australia is doing, and I think a lot will follow suit. Isn’t that leadership?

But has there been adequate consultation with Mr Short-un, the shadowy opposition leader?

  • pop

    On ya Tony,

    Let Syria keep them. Forever.

  • Gary

Oh no , the GREEN Party’s Dizzy May will welcome them in Canada while Khadr’s lawyer will take them in as well .

Maybe Justin “Jihad” Trudeau can adopt some Syrian refugees invaders to live with his family on a permanent basis.

I fail to understand how this is needed, If someone leaves the home country to fight FOR some group that espouses hate for the home country they are are committing treason, treason is punishable and should mean the death sentence. There should be no need to pass more laws for this specific problem. I know the current administration here in the US is not and will not prosecute these animals here but they could.

I agree, but I think you and I know that no Western country has the political will to impose the death penalty for treason anymore. In fact they have been unwilling to even call treason treason.

There’s a lot of talk of stripping citizenship from terrorists, but there’s a whole industry of appeals against deportation to their “unsafe” homelands, even if they’ve been going back there on holiday regularly.

    • lolwut?

Those people who go on vacation to the places they claim they will be killed in are guilty of lying on their refugee applications…. legally that’s grounds for deportation. At least in Canada.

All Immigration Canada has to do is check people’s travel records
and deport the ones who do that.. No new laws needed.

Trudeau and Mulcair would go nuts if Harper tried this.

There would be hysteria on the Communist Broadcasting Corporation 🙂

All Muslims carrying Western passports are defacto dual nationals. Their first allegiance is to the Ummah, the nation of Islam, only then followed by loyalty to the state.

If this fact were to be recognized in Western governments, a mechanism for ejecting jihadis from Western lands would develop almost automatically. The forces arrayed against such recognition, however, are unrelenting in promoting the narrative that violence in Islam is an aberration and that jihadis are the victims of a perverted teaching of Islam.

Our job is to speak truly, loudly and bravely concerning Islam. The soul of the West depends upon it.

Their departure from Australia to join the Islamic State in its jihad is prima facie proof that they have voluntarily renounced their citizenship. End of discussion.

What about Women that convert and get dual citizenship by marrying a dual citizen ?— yeah right, nothing will happen to her citizenship.
