UMP* mayor “hospitalized” for remarks on Islam

The UMP mayor of Venelles (Bouches-du-Rhône) declared on Twitter, on Thursday, Ascension Day: “We must ban the Muslim religion in France.”

He then urged Nicolas Sarkozy to take the same position.

Within the UMP party, they immediately commented that Robert Chardon was very ill and was therefore not responsible for his seriously Islamophobic remark.

But he calmly repeated it to journalists, pointing out that it was his cancer that opened his eyes. “I abolish the law of 1905** and proclaim that the Republic must favor the practice of the Christian faith,” he added…

…Many questions remain. Who had him hospitalized? Does he have a family? Do they not feel he has been denied his rights?

This event is being compared by Daoudal and his readers to similar events that occurred with regularity in the Soviet Union…

**A reminder that the law of 1905 separated Church and State, creating the system called laïcité.

My first reaction was to laugh – as the article says, “For only a madman can ask that the religion of jihad, excuse me, of love, peace and tolerance be banned.” Then I realized that this is nothing to laugh about. This is a very, very disturbing development.

Say something sane about the Religion of Peace, go straight to the mental hospital. The world has gone mad.

    Shades of the Soviet Empire…..
Anyone who does not enthusiastically endorse the politically correct must be insane, and therefore, must be institutionalized.

I think I read an article once that said Nurse Ratched wasn’t the bitch she was made out to be.
      Might have been Kathy Shaidle’s.

“This event is being compared by Daoudal and his readers to similar events that occurred with regularity in the Soviet Union…”
The left is the left whatever the particular flavor and they employ the same methods whenever and wherever they rule.
And for extra horror, now they act in concert with their unholy Islamic allies and on their behalf. Pitchforks indeed.

I googled French political parties and the first 4 results I got described Union pour un Mouvement Populaire as a centre right party which would put them about where the federal conservatives are.

        Yep, about the same.

This is a nightmare for this poor guy. It didn’t think it was possible for this to happen in a Western country anymore. Is there actually a law that permits this? I hope he gets out soon and sues somebody.
