38 Cuban migrants intercepted last month as they tried to reach America are STILL stranded on Coast Guard cutter as Cuba refuses their re-entry

Thirty-eight Cuban migrants caught trying to sail to the U.S. are stranded aboard a U.S. Coast Guard vessel, waiting for permission from the Cuban government to return home, The Associated Press has learned.

The would-be immigrants had tourist visas to the Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia when they were intercepted at sea by the Coast Guard, U.S. officials said.

The Cuban government has refused re-entry to island because their return does not comport with a repatriation agreement with the U.S., one official said. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss details of the situation…

How’s the new friendship with Cuba working out for President Hopey Changey?

  • Oh I’m sure Obama will work out a Cuban reparations plan before he leaves office.

But but but so many Canadians love to go to Cuba on vacation. I know many of them! They tell me how wonderful it is there. For me I have never been there nor will ever go to a Communist country for may vacation.

      No, I wouldn’t go either.

I have run into some of them at my barber shop – customers not the barbers. I can only shake my head when I hear them carry on about how great life in Cuba is. Disgusting!

  • Why not make them legal immigrants in the US?

I suppose one must crawl under a fence for that sort of queue-jumping.

Had they come across the Mexican-US border, they would have had no problem.

If Cubans get onto US soil they can apply for amnesty and US citizenship, if they are caught at sea they have to return to Cuba or another country. That is the current policy as adjusted by Bill Clinton in 1996. It used to be open amnesty to all Cubans who fled. Ah Democrats, supporting tyrants and punishing the oppressed…

Obama never thought his approach to Cuba through. He just jumped in…with laws like the one you mention still in place. Yet he clearly does not want those Cubans getting to land.

      • And now a Democrat gets to open up the communist hell-hole.

Is the coast guard cutter captain stupid? Find a lonely cove, put the illegals into small boats, ship them to shore. WTF?

  • cmh
