Lethbridge Herald: Multiculturalism helping Muslims adapt to Canada

Canadians’ belief in multiculturalism is helping Muslim immigrants and others adapt to their new country.

But the current federal government isn’t providing much support for that ideal, a Lethbridge audience was told Thursday. And there’s danger that racist and anti-Muslim attitudes from Europe may spread to this nation.

To increase understanding, sociology professor Abdie Kazemipur suggested, the onus is on Muslims as well as their non-Muslim neighbours to learn about each other. Creating same-faith ghettoes, he told the Southern Alberta Council on Public Affairs, Thursday, prevents that from happening…

…Muslim immigration to Canada is a relatively recent trend, he adds, and some newcomers have not adapted readily to their new situation. It may not be until the second or third generation that families really integrate into their chosen community…

…Responding to questions, he said multiculturalism has been a cornerstone of Canadian life. But that legacy is seemingly “not appreciated” by the federal Conservatives today, as it shifts Canada’s policies on immigration – and Canadians should be watching carefully.

“It’s crucial to pay attention to small changes,” he warned. “They can have drastic implications.”

Maria Fitzpatrick, the newly elected [NDP] MLA for Lethbridge East, voiced a similar concern.

“Fearmongering is showing up politically right now,” and Canadians should reject that mentality…

Dreamers. Some Muslims — the ones who stop believing in Islam — will integrate. The true believers will never integrate. They don’t want to: as they say themselves, Islam is more than religion, it’s a complete way of life.

The Internet is littered with pictures like this (search ’Islam is way of life’)

Alberta has gone full-on progressive. At SDA they’re having a happy little Cameron love-in as we speak.

    • Sean

Okay, I’ll play along. Would you have rather gotten Nicola or Milliband? Compared to either of them, Cameron is John Locke.

      • FactsWillOut

And compared to John Locke, Cameron is Stalin.
I would have hoped for Farage.
I still cannot countenance the concept that England having Cameron as PM is a good thing. Period. Saying he’s better than someone else means absolutely nothing.

        • Sean

Funny, the entirety of the Alberta election I got told to vote anything but Notley… And regardless of whom.

We all would have preferred Farage but 12% of the popular vote is 12%.

            They are just getting started.
Farage was the face for a while.
And now he’s relieved not to be.
            Good on him.

This story has nothing to do with any great leftward turn by the Alberta electorate. The “Left”bridge Herald always has been an absurdly left wing rag. It’s almost impossible to read.

The staffers there are usually the biggest ass kissers in the local community college print journalism program. Many of these dicks have done nothing other than be students or work at a newspaper.

Their college program is a 2 year diploma and they come out of it thinking they are these great intellects. But they don’t actually know anything so they do the usual empty head B.S: calling people racists, homophobes, sexists, climate change deniers ect ect.

It’s as left as the Tor Star but ten times as insipid (if that’s possible).

        Sounds like CJOB in Winnipeg.
By the way, while I am here,
        Richard Cloutier, you lefty douchebag,
You make me embarrassed that I have gone to the same high school as you.
And you drive like a fucking madman.

        • Justin St.Denis

You from Winterpeg, Dance? I didn’t know that. 😉

          • dance…dancetotheradio

I grew up living in the low rentals across from the Victoria Hospital.
There was scarcely fuckall out there when we moved in 1973.

          • Justin St.Denis

Been there…as an adult. Still pretty gruesome like most of Winnipeg is to me. But try being a 10-year-old blond white kid in the Ontario barfbag known as Sturgeon Falls. What a shithole! Just north of another shithole known as North Bay. I effin’ loathed every minute my family lived there. Native kids killed two of our dogs – for fun. I saw a kid shot through the head within six months of living there. I was 11 at the time. Some memories never leave you. I have lived in northern communities since then, but northern Ontario is in a “hostility class” of its own.

I’m almost looking forward to Maria Fitzpatrick being forced into a burka. 😉
    Diversity *this*, Sweetie. *snort*

    Was “onus” a typo?

    • eMan14

I’ll take an “a” and solve the puzzle

  • terrence

    What a useful idiot – a dhimmi – a dhimmi-idiot

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

      A dhimmiot.

  • eMan14

Here we have a Muslim championing the Muslim cause. And a dhimmi espousing the kook aid of multiculturalism. I don’t want to wait 2 or 3 generations to see if Muslims will adapt to this country. Europe is an example of how it keeps getting worse.

  • Alain

Muslims, other than a hand-full, adapting to Canada due to multiculturalism is a very sick joke, unless one considers honour killings, considering women as non entities other than the property of men, pushing for sharia law, hating their host country and either seeking to kill Canadians or supporting those who do. Until we witness mass public demonstration of these adapted Muslims against all the above, I call BS.

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

” Until we witness mass public demonstration of these adapted Muslims against all the above …”
Hold not thy breath, if thou wouldst have my council. 😉

    • Justin St.Denis

I agree, but I am told we are being harsh. Hmm… Upon considering their perspective, I say fuck’em! You with me on that? 😉

We already have those muslim ghettos in Toronto and the GTA , there is also the crisis of the islamic welfare slums where pro-sharia groups force their women to wear costumes that make them unemployable and thus stuck in a life of draining the system as they pump out children that go to the local radical mosques the muslims deny to exists.
Regent Park will be Regent Parkistan one day because currently the muslims run the Rec Centre to ban non-muslims from the PUBLIC pool when the Master-Race islamist women want to use it to bathe since many can’r swim .
Dixon and Kipling is Little Somlia with a section on Dixon known as welfare alley since most Apartment buildings as muslims refugees on welfare since the 1990’s when they poured in as bogus refugees wanting to live in peace .

The Toronto-18 muslim terrorist were born here , yet they still wanted to slaughter 10,000+ of us as a favour to allah because Canada was evil and also supports gay rights.
It will only get worse as the islamist population grows like a cancer that kills the host , financially or culturally.

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Terrible, and its going that way in Greater Vancouver too.

  • tom_billesley

It may not be until the second or third generation that families really integrate …
Those generations are the ones going on jihad to Syria. That’s integration.
