Brussels’ top bureaucrat claims ‘Anglo Saxons’ will tear Europe up ‘piece by piece’ if Greece quits the euro

The top bureaucrat in Brussels yesterday launched an extraordinary attack on Britain, warning that the ‘Anglo Saxon world’ would attempt to tear the European project apart if Greece quits the euro.

Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, said a ‘Grexit’ would expose the EU to huge risks and insisted it is ‘not an option’.

Greece is thought to be just weeks away from running out money, raising the prospect of it being declared bankrupt, defaulting on its debts and being ejected from the single currency bloc.

But Mr Juncker, an arch europhile, appeared to suggest such a drastic move would be an opportunity for eurosceptics to bring about an end to Europe as we know it once and for all.

‘If we were to accept, if Greece were to accept, if others were to accept, that Greece could leave the solidarity and prosperity that is the eurozone, we would put ourselves at risk because some, notably in the Anglo Saxon world, would try everything to deconstruct the euro area piece by piece, little by little,’ he said…

and that would be bad, because?

    • WalterBannon

because the Forth Reich would collapse, and he still has not gotten over his disappointment about the Third Reich’s collapse…

  • Jay Currie

Gosh, I hope so…but I don’t see any UK potential PM who is up to the job…

  • WalterBannon

    Heil Junker

  • Jaedo Drax

will there soon be Junker Bonds to cover the Grexit?

    • Frau Katze

      Sadly, no.

  • Mal

    Fingers crossed.

Let’s get our shields and axes, then!

It would be great sport to see this eurosnot our of a job. If Gerry gets fed up with financing the rest … 😉

This guy sounds like that Peter Gabriel song Games Without Frontiers.

  • Rosenmops

    Isn’t that, you know…racist…or something?

  • Clausewitz

Someone needs to remind this fool that the Saxon’s and Angle’s have not ruled Britain since around the late 1820’s after the Hanoverians were deposed. George the III was pretty well the end of the line.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

      Then who are the Windsors?

      • DavidinNorthBurnaby

“Prince” Philip (aka Phil the Greek) is a Battenberg. They changed (translated) it in the UK to Mountbatten.

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Victoria was the last Hanover. The Windsors, who began with her son Edward VII, were originally Saxe-Coburg und Gotha, which, being German, was unPC during WWI, hence the change.
The last “Anglo-Saxon” king, i.e., descended from the 6th century invaders from Angle and Saxony, was Harold Godwinson, who famously lost the Battle of Hastings to the Norman French Duke William the Bastard in 1066.
All told, the throne has been occupied by, variously, Scottish, Dutch, German and Norwegian backsides.
      (“Its really very interesting, Minister.”
      “Shut up, Bernard.”
      “Yes, Minister.”)

      • Clausewitz

Thanks Dave. Was too lazy to tell him about it, what with my time out telling my fellow teachers how stupid our OSSTF Union officials are.

I find it funny that the Stuarts came to rule England and then were blamed for being too posh.
Question: Since the Queen owns half of Scotland what happens when they separate?

        • DavidinNorthBurnaby

I don’t think they’ll ever separate, they’re like Quebec, their threats just mean they get their bills paid by the English.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Yes, our previous prime ministers were so cunning.
Give Quebec everything they want as far as money goes and they won’t be able to afford to leave Canada.

  • Where do they find those fags who “lead” Europe?

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Its never seemed to me they have any shortage of these eurosnot sissies over there.

  • Speaksvolumes

    If we’re lucky.
