Canada’s Media Party reacts predictably to Harper budget

Brian Lilley reports for

The consensus media’s reaction to the new Harper government budget was pretty uniform.

These outlets are supposed to be competitors, but you’d never know it if you watched their coverage.

Of course there is no such thing as a ‘Media Party’. The idea itself is absolutely absurd! If there were such a thing then they wouldn’t mention the 30+ Billion that Chretien raided from the EI fund to balance his budgets, or how he reduced health care transfers to the provinces and laughed when the premiers dared to complain saying if they can’t balance they’re own budgets how could it be his fault, or how his minions doled out hundreds of millions of dollars in manila envelopes to party contributors, or perhaps my favourite how chretien prorogued parliament more times than any other PM in history. Wait a sec ……..

I don’t know how the CBC can get away with being so consistently one-sided.

    • They think they are Canada.

      • Everyone Else

Then how do they explain that more Canadians vote for the conservatives?

        • Minicapt

Because they believe that when voters vote for a party other than the Conservatives, they are really voting ‘anti-Conservative’ and not for the Grits/Dipper/Green candidates.

They’re mostly from Toronto. They feel the world revolves around them and their shit doesn’t stink. First up against the wall when the great peasant uprising starts 2 months after Trudeau gets elected PM.

  • Do Trudeau and Mulcair have better plans?

    Of course not.

It’s automatic Harper-hating, not serious criticism.

Being part of a “Loyal” opposition means coming up with alternative plans for the good of the nation, not just saying no to everything Harper puts forward. The problem with that idea is that angry Tom and the shiny pony are too stupid to figure it out.

The Ontario Liberals are set to release their budget Thursday.
Do expect them to get a friendly tongue bath from the Media Party.

Never mind that the Ontario Liberals are ten times as corrupt as the media makes Conservative politicians out to be.

yes……… another free ride for Premier Strapon

  • David Murrell

Watched some of the budget-punditry, just after the budget was tabled, at 4 pm Eastern. At about 4:20 pm out comes Justin Trudeau for his scrum. And the softball questions lobbed at the Prime Minister-designate were hilarious. If was as if the paid-and-bought-for reporters were reading the questions from the Liberal-strategy-room talking points (“e.g. “Do you think the Family Tax Plan will hep the rights 15% of Canadians?”, and other such rot. The media’s hands are greased — the fix is in.
