Drunk on power: Kathleen Wynne’s beer tax

Kathleen Wynne is allowing beer to be sold in grocery stores, but there’s a catch like always.

Marissa Semkiw is joined by Anthony Furey to discuss how buying beer is going to change in Ontario and what it means for you.

Amazing that beer still suffers store segregation in the west. Don’t pols know that beer is good food?

    • They are evil.

I visited Pennsylvania some years back and was shocked by the lack of the noble brew in regular grocery stores. Apparently it is still the case that beer can only be purchased in state alcohol stores. How backward and disappointing of my home state!

    • Maggat

Beer is part of the essential food group.

    From my cold dead hands!

Premier Strapon latest tax straight to general revenue bottomless pit.

    then to teachers pockets

    • That’s the route

    • Clausewitz

Premier Strapon. I like that. Mind if I use it?

      • mauser 98

        no…. go right ahead

  • Ron MacDonald

The reason they are limiting sale in grocery stores to a six pack is so you won’t notice the tax.

    • Good point. They are thieves.

Once a liar always a liar. She has proved this over and over and over again. Now why aren’t the people of Ontario not asking her to step down? I think she should see a doctor for her mental issues because it is obvious she has problems. I can say my conscience is clear I did not vote the mentally challenged person in but a lot of people did. Now you have to wonder who is really mentally challenged her or the people that voted her in.

Spent 3 hours in emergency at my small rural hospital because of over crowding, then shipped to another larger town hospital. But hey, we are getting a multi million dollar horse barn nearby for the panam games.

Good point! I am still trying to understand the enduring power of myth. If you try to discuss the contradictions in this con game, people shrug and tell you that the extra taxes go to paying for “free” services like health care.

And the same people will tell you that the CBC serves up “unbiased” news because its run with public money and is not a suspect, profit-making privately held enterprise.

    Black market beer.

    • Minicapt

      …. Guinness …

  • Brett_McS

    Sounds very beerocratic.

  • That’s the “beer and popcorn” crowd for you.

Everything is a money grab. I know Ontario Liberal voters don’t care but everyone else should now that an issue close to their hearts or wallets is in the fore.

  • Clausewitz

Once again showing the difference between conservatives and Liberals. Hudak wanted us to have a buck a bottle beer, Wynne wants us to have a buck in taxes bottled beer.
