David Starkey: ‘Disabled people and ethnic minorities should not act like victims’

The outspoken 70-year-old said it was “very sad” that many groups decided to act like victims instead of “taking control”.

Speaking to the Telegraph, David said: “All forms of liberation – and I speak as gay and I was in all this when it wasn’t fashionable, when you didn’t get your CBE for being a prominent poofter, when there were actual penalties for doing it – all of them depend upon you taking control. About you refusing to be victim.

“And I find it very, very sad the way there is now this perpetual procession of people – group after group – wanting to assume the status of victim. It’s catastrophic.”

He knows there’s a problem but he can’t quite put his finger on it. They are taking control. Not of their own lives though, they’re taking control of the rest of us. It started with our taxes and now they want to control what we say and think. They’re using the government and the justice system to turn the rest of us into drones for the victim class.

  • No one respects a victim. They do respect a brave person.

I would say; no one respects a victim who is playing his/her victim card, instead of facing their problems heads on.

      • Well, there’s no government subsidised special-interest group involved in self-reliant people, so….
