Muslim, 16, tried to buy deadly poison

A 16-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to attempting to buy a deadly biological toxin over the “dark web”.

The teenager from Mossley, Greater Manchester – who cannot be named for legal reasons – wanted to obtain a poison called abrin, said to be 30 times more toxic than ricin.

Ironically the poison abrin is sourced through the Rosarypea – pictured.

The court accepted a guilty plea on the basis that he wanted the toxin to kill himself – with his first order enough to kill 200 people and his promise to make further orders in larger quantities? WTF?

The rosary pea or jequirity bean made the news a few years ago – it was realized that it was being used to make bracelets sold as tourist trinkets.

The symptoms of poisoning are acute gastroenteritis with vomiting, diarrhoea, shock and potentially fatal kidney failure.
There are three recorded cases of Jequirity beans killing children who swallowed them in the US, and there are cases of death by finger-prick among jewellery makers who jab themselves while boring through the seeds with needles. There is no known antidote.
