Isis militants just three miles away from Syrian President Assad’s seat of power in Damascus

Isis is now just five kilometres away from the Syrian President’s Presidential Palace after militants invaded a sprawling Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus.

The extremist group and members of the al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra are believed to have taken control of up to 90 per cent of the Yarmouk camp, where over 18,000 mostly Palestinian men, women and children remain trapped.

Both groups have fought fiercely against each other in the past but appear to be working together during the Yarmouk assault. Nusra said in a statement it is taking a neutral stance, according to Reuters.

Assad just might be in trouble.
I wonder if he asked for troops from Russia, if he would get them?

This could shape up to be ISIS vs. Hezbollah, with Israel on hand to mop up if need be. I doubt if Russia would directly intervene because it is already embroiled in Eastern Europe and spreading itself thin is not in its interests.

I bet he will be on a plane to Iran quite soon. If not he will end up like Gadaffi (and from what I remember, what the beasts did to him was quite awful….not that he didn’t deserve it).

That picture graced the front page of Tuesday’s Toronto Star.

I was unmoved by it then, and I remain un-bothered by it today (Wednesday). *yawwwn*

    “…sprawling palestnian refugee camp…”

And if they ever, G-d forbid, get their own country, that’s all it would ever be.

No sympathy from me that they are caught in the middle of the destruction they themselves started.

The residents of that camp are doubly screwed. Since the U.N. can’t blame Israel for these horrors, the residents are abandoned to suffer. Furthermore, the PA has refused to admit them into the West Bank and give them asylum for reasons known only to Abbas and his cronies.

Great picture that sums up Islam’s war in Syria.
