Pope hails Iran accord, urges end to ‘absurd violence’ in Easter message

Pope Francis speaks from the central loggia of St Peters’ basilica during the “Urbi et Orbi” blessing for Rome and the world following the Easter Mass in the Vatican on April 5, 2015

Pope Francis appealed Sunday for an end to “absurd violence” in hotspots around the world and said the international community must not stand by in the face of the “immense humanitarian tragedy” in Syria and Iraq.

In his traditional Easter message, the 78-year-old pontiff said he was praying for those killed in armed conflict, including the students massacred by Somali gunmen at a university in Kenya…

…Speaking from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica, Francis also said the framework nuclear accord reached Thursday between Iran and six major world powers inspired hope for “a definitive step toward a more secure and fraternal world”…

I don’t think this Pope understands Islam (including Iran) at all. He sounds like a standard leftist. He is drifting the same the mainline Protestants have gone.

Somebody is absurd that’s for sure.

      “It was that bird there.
I watched it line up on you.
Probably a djinn in league with the Joos.”

Islam is absurd…how can a rapist, genocidal pedophile pirate and crossdresser be considered a man of god by anyone? Absurd.

  • Drunk_by_Noon

Yeah, ’cause Christians getting slaughtered simply for being Christians is just so absurd, it’s bordering on the ludicrous and with some goosing it might just become ironic.

Over and under odds on when they make this jackass a “saint” too?

    • Una Salus

Probably after he makes a statement denouncing the absurdity of Iran’s first nuclear test.

Why did the previous one – the German – retire? He was good!

    • BillyHW

He got tired of being surrounded by faggots.

FYI You can simply read Vatican I. Its extremely clear.

A true Pope (not a heretic claiming to be the Pope), when speaking on a matter of faith or morals (not economics or science) when speaking to the universal Church (not a letter to a friend) is guided by the Holy Spirit.

Maybe something got lost in the translation of the Pope’s message. Violence is never absurd to the victims.

    • winniec

At least Pope Francis is speaking out. He is being very careful in his language.

And the choice of the word ‘absurd’ is excellent…because Islam is ‘absurd’ on many levels, particularly its foundational texts that call for extreme violence and genocide.

Francis the Talking Mule had more sense than this Pope:

Was that a mule driving that DUKW?
      Oh, it’s Francis.

Funniest Francis movie thing ever was something years ago in a movie house down in South America (English sound track with almost illegible local subtitles). It was the movie where this gawky girl was trying to get some guy interested in her and Francis was “helping” by among other things showing her how to “walk” slinky and feminine. The audience suddenly “got it” and went absolutely hysterical with uncontrolled laughter that just went on and on.

The violence isn’t just ‘absurd’, dear Holy Father, it is NORMATIVE ISLAM…jihad, taqiyya, misogyny, genocide, discrimination, supremacism, Arab racism.

  • winniec

Pope Francis has the odour of cultural Marxism and liberation theology hanging about him.

  • Dana Garcia

The “absurd violence” is purposeful behavior designed for conquest. It’s something the Muslims do very well. They are masters of winning territory through terror and murder, as the changing world map has shown.

The naivete of church types is disappointing. They seem incapable of learning from 1400 years of losses.
